Lease Vs. Buy – It’s Simply Complicated
How much does ownership mean to you? Do you tend to trade in your vehicle after a few years? Do you travel a lot? Answer these questions and you’ll know whether to buy or lease.
Leasing allows drivers to enjoy a new car every few years when a lease expires, and many lessees can drive nicer vehicles than those who finance because upfront charges are typically lower in lease deals. With that said, financing a vehicle gives you ownership and doesn’t limit you to lease contract parameters like mileage limits.
When you finance your car, you own it outright as long as you continue to make payments to your loan financier. You can drive it as much as you want, take it where you want and let your children decorate the back seat however they want. Unfortunately, leases do not give you the same ownership flexibility as financing does.
To put it plainly, if you plan to keep a car long after you pay it off, then a lease is not for you; if you want ownership flexibility, then a lease is not for you; if you travel a lot then a lease probably isn’t for you either.
However, if you trade in vehicles often, you should consider leasing and if you want a fancy new car that you cannot afford to finance, leasing is another avenue for you to consider.
Marvin K. Brown Auto Center History
As the dealership name suggests, the dealership’s story began with Marvin K. Brown. After years of supervising Los Angeles dealerships and serving as a Sales Manager and General Manager at San Diego’s Don Lee Cadillac, Marvin purchased his own dealership in 1950 within the San Diego area.
As the dealership grew, so did Marvin within the San Diego community; he became active in the Lions Club, La Jolla Presbyterian Church and spent seven years as a board member at the San Diego Chamber of Commerce.
Jim Brown joined his father’s business after college. Fresh out of General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, Jim began to work at the dealership, starting off as a parts runner. He eventually worked his way up to dealer principal in 1964.
In 1967, Jim Brown chose to move the dealership to its current location. This move brought the dealership further growth as San Diego grew.
Jennifer Brown is now the Dealer/Operator of the business and the third generation of the Brown family. Her work has upheld the dealership’s brand as she works hard to continuously improve our services.
Also, we would like to thank all the men and women over the years that have contributed to the success and growth of Marvin K. Brown Auto Center. We could not have done it alone.
